Christ's Promise to You

Many born-again Christians make serious promises to God. They say that they will serve Him "to the end". They solemnly promise to live a clean and honest life, to pray and read the Bible every day.  Older Christians renew their vows to God from time to time.  And many keep these vows for long periods of time before letting go of them.

Brothers and Sister we must understand that the vows that we make are our response to God's love for us. On God's side of the agreement, however, is the promise of a long-term future.  He promises to give us the gift of eternal life.  It is a gift of quality of life in the here and now.  But it also points to a future dimension beyond our human understanding. It offers us life after death.

And so this "Jesus -quality" of life means that death can never have the final say over you or any other disciple.  In fact, Jesus not only opens the door to a better earthly life, but also to a perfect life beyond the grave.

Eternal life is life under God's authority and complete control.  It is an intimate fellowship with God and eternal joy in His presence. It is a life filled with love and beauty.  And so brothers and sisters there will be no more suffering; old age and decay will be gloriously transformed.

Above all it is a life in Christ, in the presence of His truth, His holiness and His exceeding love.  It is a future we can all genuinely look forward to.

I encourage all you reading this to continue being grateful to our Savior and Guide, for the promise of life.

(Note: Once a man is united to God, how could he not live forever?)
